The 30For30 Cardio Challenge is back for 2024, bigger and better than ever! While the Challenge’s roots have long been a well-kept secret, it’s now a social experience with a fresh twist. Starting Thanksgiving Day and running through Christmas Day (yes, including Christmas morning after the kiddos dive into Santa’s surprises), participants commit to 30 minutes of daily exercise for 27 days.

This year, we’re hosting two groups to meet overwhelming demand, and all participants will self-report their results daily using our streamlined online trackers. The calendar has blessed us with a unique setup this year, making it easier than ever to track progress and stay accountable.

Join us for a season of fitness, fun, and community—your 2024 30For30 season starts here!

Legacy 30For30 Participants

This group is for the hard-core 30For30 Participants who want to stay true to the original challenge. For this group, it has to be cardio that elevates your heart rate. Running, cycling, swimming, and elliptical are each traditional exercise strategies for this group. It has to be done daily, and 30 consecutive minutes is the minimum to complete the daily challenge. There are no bonuses for overachievers, and nothing can be “banked” for another day. One entry a day, for 30 days… (27 this year) - 30 minutes minimum.  Walking is not a recognized activity for the Legacy group.

Movement 30For30 Participants

For years, we’ve had requests to participate at the “movement” level. The Movement Group can do any of the Legacy cardio activities, when desired, lift weights and/or walk. The Movement Group is encouraged to exercise for 30 consecutive minutes, but it’s not required. The only criteria for the Movement cohort is to log 30 minutes of fitness a day… any fitness, for 27 consecutive days (in 2024).

Click on the appropriate button for your group (there are only 2, so this should be easy).  If you are opening this on your phone, Google Sheets needs to be downloaded. Once on the Google Sheets tracking page, sign up by adding your first and last name, your cell number (for text messages) and your email.  You will post all results under that group for as long as you are in the challenge.  Post the number of minutes (i.e., 37.20 - indicating 37 minutes and 20 seconds) reflecting the time you logged that day.  We’d like you to make your entries on the actual day.  But this is a self-reporting challenge, so there will be times when some will make multiple entries on a single day.  When you miss a day, the rules require you to message the commissioner at 732-261-2084 and let him know of your withdrawal.

That’s all there is to it. This is our first year - so it’s intentionally simple. Invite any friends. The more the better. Let me know if you have any questions. There are no prizes or awards, other than the satisfaction of coming into another holiday season healthier and happier because you participated in the 30For30 Challenge.
